The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), National Institutes of Health (NIH), will hold its Fifth Anniversary Symposium: Changing the World's Healthcare Through Biomedical Technologies on Friday, June 1, 2007. This 1–day Symposium will be held on the NIH Campus at Lister Hill Center Auditorium in Bethesda, Maryland.

This Fifth Anniversary Symposium will commemorate the establishment and first appropriation of NIBIB. It will also serve to educate the public about past and present technology development research impacting the fields of biomedical imaging and bioengineering and the challenges facing health care delivery in the 21st Century.

The Symposium will feature presentations by NIBIB and NIH representatives, NIBIB grantees, and pioneers in the fields of biomedical imaging and bioengineering, including a Nobel Laureate. Topics will include:

  • Establishment of the NIBIB
  • Challenges facing healthcare delivery in the 21st Century
  • Current efforts in regenerative medicine
  • Future applications of molecular imaging
  • Training of tomorrow's interdisciplinary scientists
  • The impact of interdisciplinary science on healthcare.

There is no registration fee for the Symposium. Interested persons are strongly urged to register no later than April 30, 2007, as space is limited.
